Dog Days of Summer- Tips to Keep Cool in the Summer Heat

Photobucket
Boston Terriers, Pugs, and French Bulldogs are examples of brachycephalic breeds- due to their compressed snouts they cannot pant as efficiently as some other breeds.

Take Special Care of Your Boston in the Summer Heat!

Things to Consider:
  • Do not leave your dog unattended in a vehicle- not even for a quick trip in the store
  • Try to avoid strenuous activities in the warmest parts of the day
  • Have plenty of fluids available, keep your dog hydrated
  • Try to schedule walks for the cooler parts of the day- in the early morning and evenings
TIPS:
Try soaking bandanas or collars with ice packs built in to keep body temps down

REMEMBER:
Life vests are a must around water- beaches, boats, ponds, pools, etc.
